Adventures in Spain - Part Eight of Eight

January 31, 2023-March 3, 2023

Summary

I could not be more pleased with my Adventures in Spain.  I believe that I chose well when visiting Valencia.  The history, culture, transportation system and the people made my memories vivid and lasting which I hope you enjoyed in my sharing.  Yes, I have no doubt that my journey would have been enhanced had I been fluent in speaking Spanish.  But, I have such confidence in people, that I knew that my being there would demonstrate and show my desire to learn and know about Spain.  I have no doubt that I will revisit Spain and will be better able to have bettered my communication skills.  As you have seen on the map of Adventures in Spain, Part One of Eight, Valencia is only the beginning for me.  My time in Valencia, and my writings, barely scratch the surface of what can be experienced in Valencia.

What did I miss or did not see?  I did have time to visit outside the city limits.  I wanted to visit Monserrat, a multi-peaked mountain range near Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain.  It is well known as the site of The Benedictine Abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat, which hosts the Virgin of Montserrat sanctuary.  Unfortunately, there were no tours from Valencia.  And, I was advised by the Tourist Office, if I chose to go by taxi, to agree to the fare before leaving.  The other issue I learned is that Montserrat is a relatively small town and so getting a taxi for a return to Valencia could be an issue.  I did note that there are many tours to Monserrat from Barcelona.  So, I’m pretty sure Barcelona will be my next visit.  Yes, I know, there is much more to Spain than Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona.  With a more meaningful means of communication, I will look forward to learning more of the country of Spain and the people outside of the city limits.

As for the weather.  In case you are wondering, see screen shots below for weather in February in Valencia and Madrid.
